Mountain Shepherds is now supporting direct Delhi to tour site service. Please contact us for more details.
To reach Lata village, gateway to the NDBR on your own, proceed from Delhi to Hardwar by bus* or train. Hire a taxi or take a bus* from Hardwar to proceed to Joshimath along Highway 58. This partially double lane highway follows the Alaknanda river past Rishikesh and the five holy confluences (panch prayag), reaching Joshimath in approximately eight hours, but it is often wise to budget two days of travel, stopping between Karnaprayag and Pipalkoti before dark.. Lata is a 25-km drive due northeast from Joshimath along the river Dhauli Ganga.
*Note that bus travel can be an atrocious experience for those traveling to India for the first time. It is best to arrange alternative transportation.
